Since 1821, Bartlettyarns has been spinning fine, pure wool yarns in their historic mill in the village of Harmony. Much of their wool comes from individual sheep growers who deliver their fleece to them each springtime in trade for knitting yarn. Barlettyarns are spun on their remarkable, time-honored Bartlett Mule spinning machine. Their "woolen system" spinning method produces a soft, lofty yarn that has a more natural, homespun appearance and durability that is highly valued by knitters.

RANGELEY YARNS

Richer, darker shades inspired by the lakes, forests, and mountains of Maine's popular Rangeley Lake region, these special yarns are blended with natural "Baa Baa black sheep" dark wools in the "Mountain" colors. SOLIDS

Bartlettyarns' three Solid colors are soft yarns, spun from select domestic wools. The colors are crafted either by spinning with a single stock-dyed wool, or by spinning natural color skeins and then over-dyeing the skeins in solid colors. Black is always in fashion; cranberry is a traditional seasonal shade; and Bright Orange is often used for the caps, vests, and mittens worn by sports persons. SPORT YARNS

Bartlettyarns Sport yarn is a lovely, piled yarn that comes in all of the fisherman, glen Tweed, Solids, Rangeley, and Shetland shades! This most versatile Sport yarn is equally as well-suited for hand knitters, as for machine knitters and weavers. It can be sued as a fingering yarn, as warp or weft, or for machine crafted sweaters. Sport is about half the weight of standard "knitting worsted" and is spun with two soft, sturdy plies that resist any tendency to skew or "bias."
